Riverton Town Days Parade Held on New Route Due to Redwood Road Construction
RIVERTON, UT – The Riverton Town Days parade on Tuesday, July 3, will be held on a new route this year due to ongoing construction on the traditional route along Redwood Road. The route will begin westbound on 13400 S at 1930 W and continue to 2700 W. The parade then turns right and continues northbound on 2700 W until its conclusion at Southland Elementary School. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m.
“Our hands were tied on our parade route this year due to construction,” said Sheril Garn, Riverton City’s parks and public services director. “I think we’ve settled on a very good alternative that should work well for everyone.”
The new route offers several options for parking and viewing, including Centennial Park, Qquirrh Hills Middle School, Oquirrh Park, and several local churches. Spectators may not begin reserving space along the route until Saturday, June 30, at 8 a.m.
“We hope that everyone will come and watch the parade on the new route,” said Garn. “It is truly one of the best parades in Salt Lake County.”
Those driving through the city on July 3 should note that 13400 S from Redwood Road to 2700 W and 2700 W from 13400 S to 12300 S will be closed from 5-9:30 p.m. The intersection of 2700 W and 12600 S will also be closed to thru traffic from about 6:45-8 p.m.
