If you are concerned about the safety of children crossing at a certain location, you can send a request in writing to Riverton City. In your letter state the location, number of children, schools in the area, posted traffic speed and other pertinent information. Once the letter is received, staff will survey the location and report their findings in a recommendation to City Council for their approval.

How parents can help
For liability and insurance purposes, crossing guards are only permitted to cross students during their scheduled shifts. As a parent, you should encourage your children to become familiar with the scheduled times when crossing guards will be there to ensure they have a safe trip to and from school. Please also reinforce that crossing guards will advise children using their bicycles or skateboards that they are must walk – not ride – across the street.
How motorists can help
The Highway Traffic Act requires motorists to stop and obey a school crossing stop sign.
