riverton-volunteer-committees-webTo better utilize the talent and expertise of residents, the Riverton City Council approved Resolution No. 18-34 establishing volunteer committees to assist the Mayor in implementing the strategic priorities for the city. Anyone with an interest in serving as a volunteer on any of the committees listed below is encouraged to apply. Each committee consits of seven voting members.

Committees

Community Events Committee

The events committee provides recommendations to Riverton City staff and elected officials about city events, including suggestions for new events, advertising recommendations and event locations. The committee also conducts research about events, evaluates existing events, provides analysis on existing and future needs, organizes fundraising efforts, provides volunteers, solicits resident feedback, and works in conjunction with city staff to maximize the impact of city events. The committee consists of up to seven members. Meetings are held quarterly and at other times as needed.

Economic Development Committee
The economic development committee assists in the creation of Riverton City’s economic development strategy and with the revitalization efforts of historic downtown. The committee conducts research, provides analysis on existing and future needs, identifies potential development sites, promotes business growth, solicits resident feedback, and works in conjunction with elected officials and city staff to maximize the economic vitality of the city. The committee consists of up to seven members. Meetings are held quarterly and at other times as needed.

Emergency Preparedness Committee
The emergency preparedness committee works to enhance and expand Riverton City’s emergency preparedness efforts. The committee makes recommendations to city staff and elected officials on matters pertaining to emergency preparedness and emergency management. The committee organizes Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), promotes safe neighborhoods, promotes family preparedness, provides training, conducts research, solicits resident feedback, and works on special projects as they arise.  The committee consists of up to seven members. Meetings are held quarterly and at other times as needed.

Parks, Recreation and Trails Committee
The parks, recreation and trails committee makes recommendations to city staff and elected officials pertaining to park amenities and improvements, trail locations and improvements, recreation programs, and park locations in new developments. The committee conducts research, provides analysis on existing and future needs, provides recommendations on programming and space utilization, solicits resident feedback, and assists with site selection. The committee consists of up to seven members. Meetings are held quarterly and at other times as needed.
