Recently, Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Carroon announced One Million Trees for One Million People, a ten-year campaign to plant one million trees in Salt Lake County by 2017. With your help, we will grow a community forest that will provide a wealth of benefits throughout Salt Lake County. Through this program, residents can report each tree they plant online at www.milliontrees.slco.org. The online form will allow the County to track its growing community forest, promote tree planting, and engage residents in the program. Each tree that is reported adds to our goal of planting one million trees by 2017. One million trees will:
Substantially reduce storm water treatment costs
Improve water quality
Remove air pollutants and particulate matter from our air
Increase property values
Reduce heat islands and ozone levels
Save 25% on energy costs for heating and cooling
Enhance business profits
