The Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center (“VECC”) responds to your 9-1-1 call and dispatches needed firefighters and police officers. These same dispatchers can also send out emergency notifications to you and the community. If you see “0000000000” on your Caller ID, answer the phone because it could be fire, police or the City calling with emergency information. To send those emergency messages, VECC uses a 9-1-1 database for home and business phone numbers obtained from Qwest. Unfortunately, if your phone service uses the Internet to make your connection, such as Comcast cable, or you use a cellular phone as your home phone number, you could be missed. This will make sure you don’t miss future emergency notifications.
