Riverton City is undertaking an update to the City’s Long Range Plan, and is calling the effort “Rediscovering Riverton”. The General Plan provides the framework for growth in the City, and shapes the development of commercial districts, residential neighborhoods, streets, trails and transportation options, and parks.
The plan should reflect the goals, ideals, and character of the City, and input from residents and business owners is critical to the process. Riverton City will be holding a series of public workshops focused on specific areas of the City. The first will focus on the Riverton’s downtown area, including the commercial development at the intersection of 12600 South and Redwood Road. The workshop will focus on questions like:
• What is missing from the Downtown area?
• What can make the Downtown area better?
• How should new development shape the Downtown?
Come and get involved in this important effort!
General Plan Workshop - Focus on Riverton’s Downtown

Questar has begun work on 13400 South to replace a high pressure gas line with a new, 20” gas main to accommodate growth in the Southwestern part of the valley. Construction is in Phase 1 (Mountain View Corridor to Bangerter Highway) of a multi-phase project that will eventually extend from 6400 West in Herriman to 1300 West in Riverton. Starting on approximately 1/18/12, they will be extending their work zone on 13400 South to the intersection at 5000 West. They will also be starting to put in more of their line starting at 3600 West and working eastward towards 2700 West starting tentatively on 1/23/12.
Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction at all times and could be further restricted between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. with construction truck traffic. The work zone is a 30 MPH speed zone and fines are double for speeding. UPD will be enforcing this area for safety. We encourage residents to detour and use 12600 South. Click here for more detail.
We will keep this information updated as we receive it. If you have questions or concerns, contact Terry Workman with Questar at (801) 652-3805 or by email at Terry.Workman@Questar.com.
