The Celebration of trees and their importance in our lives has been a long celebrated tradition of civilization. Today, Arbor Day Celebrations are held in communities worldwide. Arbor day is usually observed based on the best tree planting times for each climate. The state of Utah celebrates Arbor Day annually on the last Friday of April.
Once again, in honor of Arbor Day, we will be offering a variety of trees at wholesale prices! The tree types will be available in 10 or 15 gallon containers, measuring on average 6-8 feet in height. Tree order forms and pictures of the trees are linked below , or at Riverton City Hall. Please place your order with the Riverton City Cashier by 5:00 pm Wednesday, April 30, 2008.
Trees will be available for pick up between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 10th, at the Riverton City Hall North Parking Lot. Please direct any questions to the Riverton Planning Department at 801-208-3138. Because the City is able to offer these trees at wholesale rates, we are unable to provide any seasonal warranties.
Saturday March 29th is “Clean up Day at the City Parks”. We are inviting you to come to a City park on this Saturday morning and help us for two hours. Bring your shovel, rake and broom, we will clean up trash, weeds, and leaves in our parks. We will also edge the lawn in the parks. Our vision is that by noon every City park will get a spring cleaning by the Riverton City family. Click here for more information.
Riverton City will be accepting 2008 Park and Civic Center Reservations starting Wednesday, January 2nd at 8 a.m. in the Parks and Recreation Department located at 12830 S. 1700 W. (upstairs-south end). Reservations will be taken in person only. NO PHONE RESERVATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED. We have many different size rooms available in the Civic Center and seven covered park pavilions, two at our main City Park at 12800 S. 1400 W., one at Centennial Park at 12800 S. 2700 W., one at Monarch Park at 13600 S. 4800 W., two at Roi Hardy Park at 12400 S. 1200 W., and one at Canyon View Community Park at 12500 S. 4300 W.
Arbor Day, a tree planting holiday has now been celebrated for over 130 years. Riverton City is excited to be honoring Arbor Day on Saturday April 28th, 2007.
If you ordered trees for this event, they will be available for pick up between 9:00 am and 11:00 am on Saturday April 28th, at the Riverton Civic Center, south parking lot located at 12830 S. Redwood Road.
